Dr. Favere-Marchesi is on the Faculty of Business Administration at Simon Fraser University . He has taught at the Monterey Institute of International Studies; the University of Mannheim (Germany); Helsinki School of Economics; H.E.C. School of Management (Paris); the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) and Chulalongkorn University (Thailand); and the University of Southern California.

Prior to academia, Dr. Favere-Marchesi worked as a controller for Laser Enterprises, a senior internal auditor for Mattel Inc., and a senior auditor for Arthur Andersen & Co. He is a Certified Public Accountant (California) and a Certified Internal Auditor.

His research interests cover audit judgment and decision-making, audit quality, comparative audit markets and systems, international accounting and auditing differences, and internal audit.

Professor Favere-Marchesi has chaired for several years the Faculty's International Activities Committee and has served on the Tenure & Promotions Committee, as well as on the University's Dean Search Committee. He is currently serving on SFU's International Student Exchange Committee.

Dr. Favere-Marchesi is a past member of the Board of Examiners of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and chaired for several years its International CPA Qualification Examination Subcommittee (IQEX). He was an AICPA Doctoral Fellow (1989-92) and a Deloitte & Touche Doctoral Fellow (1991-95) at the University of Southern California. He is currently a member of the Educational Assessment Team charged by the Public Accountants Council for the Province of Ontario to review the professional education programs of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO), the Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGAO), and the Certified Management Accountants of Ontario (CMAO).

Professor Favere-Marchesi is a member of the American Accounting Association and of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association, and an ad-hoc reviewer for several accounting research journals. His research has been published among others in Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Accounting Horizons.
